Missionaries

Church of the Holy Cross has always had a missionary heart. Over the years, both through our prayers and our financial support, we have partnered with a number of persons engaged in ministries beyond our own walls - from helping the homeless in Wake County, to supporting a Christian counselor in Cary, to building a church in the middle of Africa. We currently maintain relationships with the following missionaries, both in the United States and around the world.

Jim and Diana Mason
United World Mission
Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Slovenia

As mentors to national pastors in Central and Eastern Europe, Jim and Diana occupy a special role as encouragers, teachers, and trainers to those who are starting new evangelical churches. Extremely isolated within secular and unreceptive cultures, these pastors are asking for “spiritual parents” to walk with them in ministry.

Allen and Rachel Hill
South American Missionary Society (SAMS)
Lima, Peru

Allen and Rachel live in Lima, Peru, where Allen has been asked to begin and direct the “mother seminary” for the Anglican Diocese of Peru. Rachel will teach in the seminary, develop discipleship materials for the diocese, and promote ministries of inner healing and holiness. The Saints Augustine Seminary has an enrollment of 40 students. It focuses on missions and was created to fulfill the vision of the Anglican Diocese of Peru for renewal and growth.

Kevin and Wendy Mason
United World Mission
Estonia

Kevin and Wendy are helping to start reproducing churches in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Estonia alone has more that 4,000 villages, communities, cities, and towns where there is no life-giving community of believers—a church. Check out www.chasinthemasons.com to find out more.

Jill Ferrer
Campus Crusade for Christ
Barcelona, Spain

Jill is the national campus coordinator for Campus Crusade for Christ in Barcelona, where she helps provide leadership and direction for the five local teams of the Agape Campus program in Spain. You can learn more about her at www.jill.ministryhome.org.

Scott and Jennifer Steele
Medical Ministry International & The Milagros Foundation
Winston-Salem, NC & Latin America

MMI works to provide medical and spiritual care for very poor people in over 25 developing nations in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Latin America. Scott is the director of donor relations and organizational development. He will also be in charge of establishing a hospital in Nicaragua, a project that begins in February 2006. Scott is also running a scholarship program for the Milagros Foundation. The program identifies future Christian leaders and provides them with scholarships to attend university while remaining involved in ministry.

Tom and Linda Waddell
SAMS/Five Talents Int'l/ Chalmers Center for Economic Devel.
Georgia & Latin America

Tom and Linda served for three years in Bolivia where they worked with the poor, proclaiming the hope found in the Gospel as well as teaching the impoverished practical ways to improve their economic situations. Their future mission vision is to declare and build the Kingdom of God by equipping churches and mission organizations to reach out to the poor with a ministry that empowers individuals and families to gain the skills they need to lead productive lives. This will involve developing training materials and taking them into various country contexts. In his new role, Tom will serve as the Latin America Program Coordinator for Five Talents. Linda will assist in logistical planning, coordination, and other strategic projects.
